Danie started as a computer operator at the University of Pretoria in 1969. He soon became interested in programming and that’s when he join the department of Home Affairs where he completed courses in Assembler, Fortran and Cobol programming. The organising and scheduling of work around systems became of major interest to him and so he started a career in systems analysis and design which led to his introduction to IT project management in 1977. Danie completed his BSc degree in Computer Science and Information Systems in 1992. He subsequently completed several courses in project management including PMBOK based and Prince 2 and is currently also lecturing project management at a private college in Centurion.
Project management is a skill that is required in all walks of life since planning your tasks, executing them according to your plan and monitoring progress and taking corrective action when required, becomes a natural way of life.
Danie has a practical approach to project management and has successfully managed projects for several major organisations throughout South Africa including Denel, Sasol, BHP Billiton, Kraft and SA Breweries.
